The Sanctum: Redefining the Modern Metal scene
Event
“The Sanctum was created to materialise our vision of celebrating the vastness of modern metal with those who share our belief that the future of music is in the community, and the coming together of ideas and sounds that challenge and change us” - Assurance, via Instagram
Modern metal collective Assurance is quickly cementing their place as one of the most powerful forces in today’s music scene. With hard-hitting tracks like “Blood Vision,” “Facade,” and “Amelia,” the band has already garnered widespread acclaim for their intense sound and raw energy. But they’re not content to rest on their laurels; they’re determined to push boundaries and redefine the modern metal landscape.
Beyond dominating playlists and earning praise from fans and critics alike, Assurance is taking their passion to the next level by founding their own DIY music festival—The Sanctum: Modern Metal Festival. Taking place at Dead Wax Digbeth on Saturday 26th - Sunday 27th of July, the festival is set to be a key fixture in the Birmingham music scene. The Sanctum is more than just a festival; it’s a gathering of like-minded metalheads and an opportunity to celebrate the genre’s most promising talents. The festival’s mission is clear: bring together an exciting lineup of emerging heavyweights, creating an unforgettable experience for both fans and artists.
The focus of The Sanctum isn’t just on the music—it’s about community. With an emphasis on inclusivity, collaboration, and grassroots growth, Assurance is ensuring that the event is as much about forging connections as it is about vibing out to killer tracks. “We are so proud to take the leap into hosting these kinds of events for you all”, the band captioned one post, recapping the pilot event in September 2024. The event played host to some brutal riffs and raw primal vocals from such bands as Arciiives, Swarmed, and Away With The Seas.
Building on that success, a second event took place on December 14th, transforming the festival with a seasonal twist. This edition featured powerhouse performances from acts like Insurgent, Manifest, and a performance from burlesque artist Pixie Rocket.
Whether you’re already a fan of Assurance or you’re just discovering their music, The Sanctum is one event you won’t want to miss. Keep an eye on the festival’s lineup as it evolves, because these are the moments that will define the future of metal. Get ready to be a part of something extraordinary.
